2013: A Look Back at My Travels

Every year my family and I look forward to travelling.  We often choose races or events to participate in and then hang out afterwards or seek places where we can go and recreate while on vacation.

In 2013 we did a decent job of making our way around the globe and saw some beautiful sights and made memories with some really amazing people.

SAYULITA MEXICO ~ FEBRUARY 2013
Got some tangible training in.  Pigged out on fish tacos.  Went whale watching.  Quality time with the fam. #Ariba!

 

PORT MOODY ~ FIRST RACE / ROAD TRIP / APRIL 2013
50km race with some PACE Peeps.  Ran some miles through the rain.  Recovered with a smokie.  Won a scarf.  Made sweet suffering memories with friends. #springultrashurt

 

WINTHROP, WASHINGTON ~ ANNUAL PACE ROAD TRIP / MAY 2013

LAKE LOUISE MOUNTAIN RUNNING CAMP ~ COACHED 1st ANNUAL PACE MOUNTAIN CAMP / JULY 2013
Strong, fit and determined friends train over 4 days in the mountains around Lake Louise, Alberta.  We climbed.  We ran.  We descended.  We drank.  We ate.  Overcame fears.  Built fitness.  Made mud-masks.  Yep.  Even the boys.  #magical

 

 

 



CANMORE, ALBERTA ~ ANNUAL VACA WITH OUR BFF'S FROM SALT LAKE CITY / JULY 2013
Salt of the earth couple.  Coming together every year to hang out.  Boys MTB.  Girls Trail Run.  We Climb.  We drink.  We Eat.  We Laugh.  We love spending time with this couple.  Another #prettyawesome #prettyrad #downrightfantastic friends of ours live in Canmore and we got together with them for some #wine #laughs #dinner = #superamazingholiday

 

CALGARY, ALBERTA ~ FAMLIY REUNION / JULY 2013

We hit the trails.  Bird bath at the community center before carrying on to meet Trent's Sister's family at the reunion.  Such nice people.  Great food.  Good conversation and lemon-beer.  Makes me wish Trent's family lived closer.  #loveya #missya #seeyousoon

 

 

 

SALMON ARM TO SICAMOUS TRAVERSE ~ PACE CHARITY EVENT / JULY 2013

Okay, so it isn't too far outside of Kelowna but it was EPIC.  A 40k traverse with amazing, inspiring, tough, wonderful people who raised money for cancer research and then ran their faces off.  It took volunteers and a lot of organizing. We raised $7,000.  It was hot.  We suffered.  But not nearly as bad as those we were running in honor of. #givingbackfeelsgood

 



 



SQUAMISH, BC 25k / 50k / 50m ~ PACE ROAD TRIP #3 / AUGUST 2013
On the road again.  Inspiring weekend with the PACE family.  You guessed it.  We ran.  We drank.  We ate.  We relaxed.  We celebrated.  Some bonked.  Twice.  We bonded.  We supported.  We laughed.  We cried.  We kicked ass.  #community

 

NEEDLE PEAK ~ 2.5HR DRIVE ON THE COQUIHALLA HWY / AUGUST 2013

Carter loves this hike and we wanted a full day of no distractions as a family.  Our friends Nathan and Carrie joined us.  It was a lovely hike with a tasty lunch on the summit.  #morefunwithfriends

 



MUNICH, GERMANY  ~ THE JOURNEY STARTS.  PACE EUROPEAN VACATION AUGUST 2013
11 friends and PACE athletes board airplanes and head to Europe for an 8 day stage race.  The rest is history.  #besthoidayever #lovethesepeople #amazingexperiences #lifelongbonds #soproudofourteam

OBERSTDORF, GERMANY ~ RACE START STAGE TOWN
We had jitters.  We ran.  We ate. We rolled in the hallway of our guesthouse.  Some slept.  Some did not.  #jetlagisabitch Anticipation was torture.  But we made it to the start with smiles.  #gocanada #getthepartystarted

 

GERMANY to AUSTRIA to SWITZERLAND to ITALY ~ 8 DAYS + A LOT OF MOUNTAINS

There are not enough hashtags to describe this journey.  It brought a group of friends together even tighter than they ever imagined.  Bonded by the mountains, salami, cheese and a common theme: #keeponrunning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ITALY ~ EXPLORING AFTER THE RACE

Post-race the crew hit the road in different directions, each seeking areas of the country they wanted to visit.  Trent and I travelled with Carrie & Nathan to Riva Del Garda and Canezi, Italy before heading home.  We relaxed.  We drank.  We ate.  We drove.  Stayed among the Mountains.  Roof top dinners.  Amazing espresso.  Hiking... sorta.  spaghetti & beer at 7,000 feet in a hut. Cooking class on a farm. #lifeisgood #friendsforever #travelpartners

 

 

 

 

VANCOUVER, BC ~ FITNESS CONFERENCE / NOVEMBER 2013



Girls trip.  Flew in.  Hunkered down for 3 days of fitness extravaganza.  Worked out tushies off.  Had a blast.  Learned lots.  Few out.  #exhaustedbutoverjoyed

 

 

 



 

REVELSTOKE, BC ~ SKI HOLIDAY / DECEMBER 2013

Busy holiday season, so the three amigo's packed up and spent two nights at the Sutton Resort on Revelstoke Mountain for some quality family time.  Trent downhill skied with my cuz & bro.  Carter and I skied Nordic.  Carter raced on Sunday.  We hung out with family on Saturday night at the skating rink and cousin's house over a balmy outdoor fire-pit.  #family #lucky #skiingisfun #hottub #snowsnowsnow #roadtrip #countrymusic

 

 

2014 is already looking pretty awesome too.  Lots of excitement and exploration on the horizon.  #lifeisgood
