I woke up Friday and my ankle was 85% better. I was pretty excited! I had booked another appointment with David and went to see him for some more 'pain train' and it seemed to bode very well. I ran 3.5hrs on Saturday with the group and did two loops on the Two T's. Had a great time with the 50k B group and we kept a steady, social pace. Managed approx. 24k (with some looping) and almost 4000 feet! I wanted to do a third repeat, but I also wanted to be able to back it with a longer workout on Sunday, so I thought I better just back 'er down and be happy with my run and no ankle issues.
We had a UFC party on Saturday night and my brother roasted a pig for us. It was awesome! He hunkered down in our backyard from 10amto 4pm when it was finally cooked. I really appreciate all his help and he did such a great job! Everyone really liked it and we had a lot of fun.
I just have to say what a key role my family has in supporting Trent, Carter and me. My Mom came over on Friday and did what Mom's love to do for their kids... help. She cleaned, cooked, planted my flowers in the yard... and she slept over so Trent and I could get up early and head out with the PACE groups. My brother invested a full day to roast the pig and my Dad/Mary invited Carter over for a fun sleepover Saturday night.
And if that isn't cool enough, I have a husband who totally supports my goals and encourages me out the door to get on my bike today. So while he cleaned up and picked up Carter, I got the green light to hit the road for a ride. It was beautiful out!! First ride of the year with no 'warmers' of any kind. I made up my mind to ride hard for 2hrs, so I headed out on the Sunday ride route and did a 55k loop with lots of climbing. My legs felt fresh and strong on the climbs and I finished with lots of leg left! A good testament coming off the crappy ride Thursday and big run the day before.
Alps... here I come!
